Reposting a Slack Q&A, in case you missed it:

Question: What is the priority for the industry between automating the creation and processing of lease and purchase agreements, reducing costs and time required for performing background checks on prospective tenants and buyers, building community between properties, service providers, and tenants?

    Answer from mentor David Rose:

    1) Background checks: This is a challenge that should be achievable on a stand-alone basis and is probably the most viable problem to attempt to solve during a hackathon.

    2) Community: This would be a major boon to the industry but will be more complicated to implement as by definition it will require the buy-in of many different players from many different parts of the industry. It will also need appropriate business models and incentives to drive it.

    3) Lease and purchase agreements: Moving up the scale, this would likely produce the biggest, most disruptive change, but will be difficult to bring to fruition from both technical and deployment perspectives. It would require a deep understanding of the real estate industry, legal contracts, blockchain technology, token economics and more, and then would require owners, brokers, lenders, title insurance companies and purchasers/tenants to all buy-in to the same system. Not impossible, but very, very difficult.
